January 2023

Categories: Announcements, Blog

Dear Theta Phi Alphas,

In December I returned to my alma mater, Wayne State College in Wayne, NE, for my son Nic’s graduation. This was such a proud parent moment for me! Wayne State is the home of our Alpha Pi chapter, my chapter, and while I was there I was able to connect with one of my chapter sisters, Regan Ott, who was also graduating that day. I am proud every time a sister from my chapter graduates and enters the alumna phase of membership.

28th National President’s First Blog

Categories: Announcements, Blog

Hello Theta Phi Alphas,

As I write my first National President’s blog, I can’t help but wonder where have the last three months gone?  It feels like just yesterday we were gathered at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis for our 53rd National Convention.  Reuniting with old friends, making new friends, conducting the business of the fraternity, gaining knowledge from speakers, hearing the voices of our collegian and alumnae members, and electing our leadership for the the next biennium felt so good after canceling convention in 2020 due to the pandemic.  The Convention provided a compass to guide the 2022-2024 members of the Grand Council. I'd like to share with you where that compass is taking us.

Theta Phi Alpha Announces Closure of Gamma Kappa Chapter

Categories: News, Press Releases, Announcements

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio – With great sadness, the Grand Council of Theta Phi Alpha recently voted to indefinitely suspend the charter of the Gamma Kappa Chapter at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

The Gamma Kappa Chapter was originally chartered in 2006 and since then they’ve received dedicated support from Fraternity volunteers and staff. Challenges in achieving continued successful membership recruitment results have hindered the ability of the chapter to provide the enriching membership experience that our legacy dictates.

“Making the decision to indefinitely suspend a chapter’s charter is never easy, but we look forward to continuing our lifelong sisterhood with the Gamma Kappa Chapter members through their membership as alumnae,” said National President Tracey Liphardt.

The Gamma Kappa Chapter will forever remain a valued part of the Theta Phi Alpha sisterhood.

Collegiate members of the Gamma Kappa Chapter will transition to alumnae members of Theta Phi Alpha and will continue to experience a lifetime of sisterhood along with the privileges of being a lifelong member of Theta Phi Alpha.

Theta Phi Alpha intends to re-establish the chapter when conditions are optimal for the chapter to be successful, and per the National Panhellenic Conference’s membership growth plan, which will be filed with Wright State University. Questions can be directed to Kathryn Hartmann at the Theta Phi Alpha National Office at (440) 899-9282.
