A Notable Fall Season

Dec 14, 2020 | Categories: Announcements, Blog

We are well into a pandemic and still have some time to go. We are all tired. Despite this, sisters have found the energy to keep working for Theta Phi Alpha.

The fall recruitment season is over and our chapters worked hard. It was a new experience for all of us, to recruit during a pandemic. Each campus had its own rules about what was allowed or not allowed for recruitment. Some collegians were on campus and many were not. No matter where they were, our collegians were supported by our dedicated national volunteers and staff.

The lessons learned this fall prepare us well for spring recruitment and extension. Even with our best efforts, we have anticipated and seen a drop in membership due to the pandemic, with existing students not returning to their universities alongside the unique challenges of virtual recruitment.

Here are some other updates from this past fall:

  • We held our first virtual installation at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati on Nov. 15, 2020. The Delta Xi Chapter’s original installation was the first Theta Phi event cancelled due to the pandemic. While limited due to the capacity of Zoom, the virtual event allowed for more Theta Phi guests to participate than if it were held in-person.

  • We are working to engage our alumnae with fun virtual events. Were you able to play BINGO with us in November? Alumnae trivia is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec, 15. Register in advance and join us for some fun and friendship!

  • And longstanding events continue to run. On Jan. 9, we will hold virtual Officer Leadership Training for collegians and chapter advisors.

  • The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Access Task Force has worked diligently and their report will be submitted to Grand Council soon. We look forward to their recommendations developed from the listening sessions held with members.

  • Thank you to our dues-paying alumnae! Our annual dues appeal was very successful, and we hope to continue that success every year. It’s never too late to make your dues payment online

  • If you are in need, there are disaster relief grants available from the Theta Phi Alpha Foundation. If you are able to support these and other Foundation efforts, donations are always welcome.

With the support of one another, we will continue to endure. Reach out to your sisters, check on each other, and take care of you.
